Description
Angel food cake with strawberry glaze is a light, airy dessert topped with a sweet homemade strawberry sauce, perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
1 cup egg whites (about 10–12 eggs)
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup cake flour
1 tsp cream of tartar
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 cups fresh strawberries
1/2 cup sugar (for glaze)
1 tbsp lemon juice
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F and prepare a clean mixing bowl
2. Whip egg whites until foamy, then add cream of tartar
3. Gradually add sugar and beat until stiff peaks form
4. Gently fold in sifted cake flour and vanilla extract
5. Pour batter into ungreased tube pan and bake 35–40 minutes
6. Invert pan and cool completely before removing cake
7. Cook strawberries, sugar, and lemon juice until thickened
8. Cool glaze slightly and pour over cake before serving
Notes
Use room temperature egg whites for best volume
Do not grease the pan
Cool cake upside down to prevent collapse
Use fresh strawberries for best flavor
