Description
A classic comfort food casserole made with ground beef, noodles, tomato sauce, and plenty of melted cheese. It’s cozy, customizable, and family-approved.
Ingredients
1 lb ground beef
1 medium onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tbsp tomato paste
1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1/2 tsp dried oregano
Salt and pepper to taste
8 oz egg noodles (or elbow macaroni)
1 cup sour cream
1 can cream of mushroom soup
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
2. Boil pasta until just al dente. Drain and set aside.
3. In a skillet, cook ground beef over medium heat until browned. Add onion and garlic; sauté until soft.
4. Stir in tomato paste, sauce, Worcestershire, oregano, salt, and pepper. Simmer 5 minutes.
5. Mix sour cream and cream of mushroom soup in a bowl.
6. In a greased 9×13 casserole dish, layer meat sauce, pasta, creamy mixture, and cheese. Repeat layers.
7. Finish with a top layer of cheese. Bake uncovered for 25–30 minutes or until bubbly.
8. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
Make-ahead friendly: assemble and refrigerate up to 24 hours.
Freezes well for up to 2 months.
Try variations with turkey or Tex-Mex seasoning.
