Description
This One-Pot Creamy Chicken Orzo is the ultimate weeknight comfort meal tender chicken, silky orzo, and a garlicky cream sauce come together in one pan for a cozy, quick dinner.
Ingredients
1 lb boneless chicken breast or thighs, diced
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 small onion, diced
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup orzo pasta (dry)
2 ½ cups chicken broth
½ cup heavy cream or half-and-half
½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
Salt and pepper to taste
Fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
Instructions
1. Heat olive oil in a large pot or skillet over medium heat. Add diced chicken, season with salt and pepper, and cook until golden. Remove and set aside.
2. In the same pot, sauté onion and garlic until soft and fragrant.
3. Stir in the dry orzo and toast for 1 minute.
4. Add chicken broth and bring to a simmer. Return the chicken to the pot.
5. Simmer uncovered for about 10–12 minutes, stirring frequently until the orzo is tender.
6. Reduce heat and stir in cream and Parmesan. Simmer another 2–3 minutes until creamy.
7. Garnish with parsley and serve hot.
Notes
For extra flavor, cook the orzo in broth instead of water.
To lighten the dish, use milk with a spoon of cream cheese or Greek yogurt.
Great with added spinach, mushrooms, or sun-dried tomatoes.
