Description
A hearty and easy-to-make ground beef pasta casserole, perfect for family dinners or meal prep.
Ingredients
1 lb ground beef
12 oz penne or rotini pasta
1 small onion, chopped
1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1 tbsp Italian seasoning
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
2. Cook pasta in salted water until al dente, then drain.
3. In a skillet, brown the ground beef. Drain excess fat.
4. Add chopped onion and cook until softened.
5. Stir in crushed tomatoes, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5–7 minutes.
6. Combine cooked pasta with the meat sauce.
7. Layer half the mixture in a greased baking dish, top with cheese, and repeat.
8. Bake for 20–25 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
9. Let rest 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
Prep the casserole up to 2 days ahead and refrigerate.
Freezes well for up to 2 months.
Reheat covered with foil in a 350°F oven.
